W. Fredrick Stephens, D.D.S., F.A.C.D., F.I.C.D.

Dr. Stephens boasts 37 years of clinical experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery, most of which has been serving the San Gabriel and San Fernando Valley, CA communities. In 1988, he and his wife relocated from Texas to Southern California and established The Pacific Coast Center for Oral & Facial Surgery, opening offices initially in South Pasadena but then expanding into Arcadia and La Canada, CA. After building a successful and well-recognized surgical practice in these locations, Dr. Stephens relocated the Center centrally to Pasadena, CA in 1999. Here, he reestablished The Pacific Coast Center for Oral & Facial Surgery with the addition of the Pasadena Ambulatory Surgery Center.

In 2018, a major practice transition occurred when Dr. Husam Elias purchased the Centers and their facilities. This represented another major evolution of our Centers into the realm of facial and full-body cosmetic surgery. Along with a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental implant services, the Centers now offer an even broader scope of care to our patients at the now renamed Pacific Coast Center for Oral, Facial & Cosmetic Surgery and the Pasadena Ambulatory Surgery Center, LLC. Dr. Stephens continues to actively practice oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Centers with an emphasis on dental implant reconstruction, dentoalveolar surgery (including wisdom teeth removal), and maxillofacial pathology. He still offers his years of experience to care for his patients while now enjoying more time to spend with his wife and pursue other interests.

Dr. Stephens was born and raised in an Idaho farming community and later moved to Seattle, WA with his family. He attended the University of Washington and completed his undergraduate degree in zoology. He then attended the University of Washington School of Dentistry, graduating with honors. Dr. Stephens was accepted to one of the premier oral and maxillofacial surgery training programs in the country, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas, TX, and John Peter Smith Hospital, Fort Worth, TX. Here, he completed both his anesthesia internship and surgical residency. Upon completing his residency training, Dr. Stephens entered private practice in the Dallas area with a practice emphasis on orthognathic/reconstructive jaw and facial surgery, maxillofacial trauma surgery, and dental implant reconstruction.

Dr. Stephens is also a fellow or member of numerous professional organizations. For many years, he has been involved in our specialties' leadership and is a past president of the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS), among other past and current state and national committee roles. Dr. Stephens is currently involved in the highest level of our specialties' leadership, representing the Western Society as a district trustee and as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). His leadership position here promotes our ever-evolving specialty of oral and maxillofacial surgery and helps lead it into the future.
